Math 253/504-506: Hot Topics for Mon, 27/Aug/2007

  1. Welcome to Texas A&M University! Please explore our class web pages early and often. Start at http://calclab.math.tamu.edu/~belmonte/2007c_m253.html. In particular, print out the following.

  2. You will activate and set up your CalcLab account on Thursday, 30/Aug, in your MATLAB computer lab classes. Then you'll start to work on MATLAB Assignment 0.

  3. Read sections 11.1-11.2 in your textbook (Stewart) in advance of today's lecture. Work on homework in these two sections tonight. It is imperative that you read the relevant sections in your textbook and lab manual before you come to class.

  4. Also read chapters 1 and 2 of your MATLAB lab manual over the next week. On Thu, 30/Aug, you'll set up your CalcLab MATLAB environment and start practicing on examples from the first two chapters. You'll employ the "Cycle of Life" to systematically document your work.

  5. I have office hours Monday-Friday, 11:30 am-12:00 noon (or by appointment) in Blocker 601J. I am happy to assist you. In this regard, feel free to stop by to obtain the TAMUCALC 5.2 Calculus Package for your TI-89.

  6. MATLAB help sessions are in Blocker 131 as follows. They begin tonight.

  7. Calculus 3 Help sessions for Fall 2007 will be underway next week. See the Web for details at that time. But don't wait a week! Instead, come to my office hours or visit the MATLAB help session if you need help this week. Or watch my calculator streaming videos.

  8. Get a packet of 15 QuizzStrip Form 815-E ScanTrons. This will be enough for your quizzes and exams.
BRING THEM TO ME IN LECTURE!
