Math 308 Mac OS X MATLAB Environment
Here's how to set up your MATLAB environment on a Mac OS X computer
for Math 308. NOTE: If you do NOT have a multi-button mouse, then
wherever it says Right-Click in the following instructions you should
Control-Click instead. [ATTENTION: If your Mac has a case-sensitive
journaled file system, follow the instructions on the Linux link on
the preceding page. Invoke MATLAB via the Dock or under Applications.]
- Right-Click on the following Zip file, then select Download
Linked File. By default, the downloaded file will appear in your Downloads
folder. Use the Finder to move it to your Home folder.
- Open Terminal. At the command prompt enter "unzip M308_mac.zip"
without the quotes. Wait for the extraction to complete. Then delete
the Zip file by typing "rm M308_mac.zip" and pressing Enter.
- Start MATLAB via the dock, Application folder, etc. The codes I
wrote for you will now be accessible locally.
- NOTE! Running MATLAB locally under Mac OS X has speed
benefits. Be apprised, however, that you will need to transfer
assignment files back and forth between your CalcLab account and your
home machine. You may do this with Fugu, a free, secure file
transfer tool.
