I recall we had that problem with TeX generically and solved it, > circa 1997. Hi Steve, Steve Johnson figured this one out. Here's what to do to fix this. 1. Open up LyX. Click on Edit -> Preferences. 2. In the left column of the dialog box, click on the + sign next to Outputs to expand this category. 3. Select LaTeX, then in the right side of the dialog box at the top change the TeX encoding to OT1; that's a capital letter "Oh" at the beginning, not a zero; and a one at the end. 4. Click on the Save button at the bottom of the dialog box. Henceforth, the PDF output will be crisp! - Art
