The class pattern (for non-test weeks)

  1. Statement of objectives (late Monday)
    1. Short-term ("This will be on the test.")
    2. Long-term (Why we're here)
  2. "Lab" work on example problems (Wednesday)
    1. Individual reflection or group discussion
    2. Class presentation and discussion
  3. Finish up (Friday, early Monday)
    1. Questions?
    2. More examples
    3. Comments (see also "damage control")
  4. Turn in homework; get papers to review (early next Monday)
  5. Return homework papers you've reviewed (next Friday)
  6. Minilecture for damage control if necessary (ASAP; probably week after next)

In practice, deviations from the pattern will be common.
