HOMEWORK, WEEKS 13-14 (Fulling's section) Only Exercise 13.1 will be graded. Please turn it in on Friday, Apr. 27. (Be prepared to report your oven data that day, too.) Most of the other problems will be discussed in class; your job is to STUDY THE CLASS NOTES in advance, in place of a systematic lecture. Exercise -------- -------------------------------------- 13.1 EVERYBODY should do this one. 13.2 OMIT 13.3 You should do this at least once in your life. But do not turn it in. 13.4,5,6,7 will be discussed in class Monday and Wednesday 4/23,25. 14.1,2,3 will be discussed in class Friday and Monday 4/27,30. 14.4 will be discussed in class Monday or pseudo-Friday, 4/30 or 5/1. AND FINALLY: Our only laboratory experiment of the semester -- Measure your microwave oven in centimeters. Look at the pairwise ratios of the three dimensions and see if they are close to simple fractions (such as 3/5). We will combine the data and deduce the frequency[ies] at which microwave ovens operate.
