PROCEDURE FOR TAKE-HOME QUESTION OF FINAL EXAM


    Late on Wednesday, Dec. 9, or early on Thursday, Dec. 10, I 
will e-mail to the class the PDF file of the question.  You may 
open the file at your leisure.  Once you know the question, you 
are bound by the Honor Code not to discuss it with anyone, nor to 
use search engines on related topics, until you hand in your 
essay.  You may consult written sources, but please do not check 
more than one relevant book out of the TAMU library.  Deadline:  
Monday, Dec. 14, 3:00 p.m., at my office, BLOC 620H.  Even after 
you finish your paper, you must not mention the question around 
those who have not yet done it.

    The take-home question will be worth 30-40 points (out of 
150).  The in-class exam will be short enough that you should be 
able to finish it in 1.5 hours.  The full 2 hours (but no more!) 
will be allowed, however.
