What to expect on the midterm test in Math 467 1. You don't need to memorize proposition numbers. 2. DO learn the axioms and their numbers (and major theorems by name). 3. Know the CONTENT of definitions and theorems. 4. Test covers up through Congruence (Greenberg p. 129). 5. There will be a revisable essay question worth 20 points. (Other questions may be "essay-like", too.) Improvements in the rewrite get only half credit; e.g., if your initial score is 16, your final score won't exceed 18. 6. There will be at least one proof. It might be a) a main theorem (such as Pasch's) b) something you haven't seen before (but straightforward) c) something you have seen (reasonably straightforward) It will not be one of the team exercises, since that would give the team in question an unfair advantage. 7. You can see what my tests are like by going to each of the old class home pages and looking at the test keys near the bottom. The course has evolved over the years, so some early tests may be misleading. The cutoff point (see 4. above) has varied a bit according to scheduling circumstances.
