[revised August 1997] A SKETCHY CDVI HELP FILE Unfortunately, CDVI does not have on-line help, and the TeX file for the printed documentation seems to be lost. Here are the basic keystrokes you might be looking for: O -- Zoom out (to smaller magnification). There are two reasons for reducing magnification: to bring more of the page into the field of view, and to read some text in a font that is not available at the largest magnifications. I -- Zoom in (magnify). N or -- Next page. P or -- Previous page. Cursor keys -- Navigate around the page in the obvious way. C -- Move to the center of the page. Q or -- Quit the program (respond with "y" to confirm). { (left brace = shifted left bracket) -- Change background from blue to black. (More generally, bracket keys cycle through foreground colors and shifted bracket keys cycle through background colors. Unfortunately, most of the color combinations are hideous.) CDVI is a 10-year-old DOS program, and it sometimes does not cooperate with Windows/Netscape. If it flashes up briefly and then disappears, try exiting from Netscape and then reloading Netscape. (As far as we know, this problem starts whenever one tries to view a file using the "File" menu of Netscape -- and persists until you kill the Netscape session. There is no problem as long as you stick to Web links.)
